ABOUT BARCELONA

Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, located along the northeastern Mediterranean coast of Spain. With a population exceeding 1.6 million and a metropolitan area approaching 5 million, it is among Europe’s most vibrant and culturally rich urban centers. The city is famous for its blend of Gothic architecture, modernist wonders by Antoni Gaudí, and a thriving culinary and arts scene.

Barcelona is affectionately nicknamed “Barça” by locals, and is often called the “City of Gaudí” for its iconic works such as the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà — many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city is also a global hub for art, music, festivals, sports (home to FC Barcelona), and innovation.
